JOB: MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTANT
SALARY: 40-45K
LOCATION: NR. RIPON, NORTH YORKSHIRE
The Business & Opportunity:
Opportunity to work at the heart of a branded consumer goods company. The business has well established brands sold through multiple sales channels across the North of England and nationally. Following its recent acquisition by a private equity firm, they require a Management Accountant to play a crucial role within their growing finance team. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will take responsibility for Management Account and month end related tasks. You will be a key member of their small accounts team and have regular interaction with non-finance.
You will be joining there existing finance team at an exciting time of expansion and professionalisation, there is the genuine potential for your role to develop further over time.
You will be based at the Groups Head Office, located North of Ripon
Specific Requirement:
Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will take responsibility for a wide range of duties, including:
- Preparation of monthly management accounts including variance analysis and commentary.
- Reporting all information to the Financial Controller, together with the Directors, Investors and other Stakeholders.
- Preparation and review of balance sheet reconciliations.
- Posting of journals including depreciation, prepayments/accruals, wages and standard costing.
- Ensure all book keeping tasks (bank reconciliation, purchase ledger etc.) are completed daily.
- Ensure appropriate nominal allocations of postings.
- Generation of daily payment runs for sign off and negotiation of terms with suppliers.
- Assisting with generation of monthly duty and quarterly VAT returns.
- Assist with annual statutory audit.
- Continuous improvement of daily/ monthly/ yearly tasks.
- Work with the integration of newly acquired companies financial function and transition to new accounting software.
Skills & Experience required:
- Part or fully qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA/ACMA
- Good all-round Management Accounts skills.
- Preference to have experience within a private equity/turnaround culture or similar fast paced environment
- Advantageous to have worked in a consumer products or FMCG sector.
- Due to the ongoing change and growth of the business, you will be resilient and thrive in a dynamic and fast paced environment.
- Competent with Microsoft Office and Excel (and a bonus if you also have knowledge of Opera 3 or Xero).
- Able to think outside the box and add real value throughout the exciting times ahead.
