JOB: GROUP ACCOUNTANT
SALARY: 50-55K

As Group Accountant, you’ll play a key role tasked with embedding processes and procedures to future proof the business as they begin to scale up. You’ll be the sounding board for ideas alongside the Finance Director, and will take responsibility for 40+ legal entities, take charge of the management accounts, and have the opportunity to lead on a new systems implementation.
They offer a truly hybrid approach, where you will only be required to be office based at least 2 days per week in their impressive premises in the centre of York, which offers a non-corporate and sociable environment.
Specific Requirement:
The main purpose of the role will be leading on the production of the financial reporting to ensure compliance with statutory filings and internal management reporting. You will also assist with the preparation, monitoring and appraisal of budgets and forecasts, and work closely with all relevant stakeholders across the business. This will involve:
- Contributing to the timely completion of month end closure including posting transactions, ensuring an accurate set of management accounts, and updating balance sheet reconciliations.
- Providing meaningful commentary on key variances of monthly performance to senior management.
- Acting as a key business partner to stakeholders across the business, delivering meaningful management information to facilitate delivery of strategic objectives.
- Contributing to the forecasting process, challenging and holding stakeholders to account throughout the process and ensuring accurate, realistic, and achievable forecasts and budgets are completed in line with the agreed timetable.
- Identifying opportunities to improve upon existing reporting to enable proactive decision making and improve profitability of the business.
- Acting as a key point of contact for the auditors.
- Producing ad hoc financial reports as and when required.
- Any other work as identified by the FD.
- Be jointly responsible for the administration, maintenance and implementation of applicable finance systems.
Skills & Experience required:
- Qualified Accountant (CIMA/ACMA/ACA/ACCA) or Qualified By Experience.
- Previously worked at Group Accountant level with experience of consolidations.
- Ideally been involved with a systems implementation.
- Experience of producing financial and management accounts in a group setting.
- Preparation of VAT returns, and experience of preparing information for corporation tax returns.
- Had liaison with external auditors.
- Ability to work autonomously and dynamically with minimal supervision.
