JOB: BOOKKEEPER

SALARY: 25-30K

LOCATION: GARFORTH, LEEDS

The Business & Opportunity:


Newly created opportunity to become the Bookkeeper for a reputable family-owned group of businesses who supply a wide range of market leading promotional merchandise & retail products to well-known UK Brands. 


Having moved to their new distribution facility in Garforth, this represents fantastic timing for a Bookkeeper to play a key role in the next exciting phase of the business. Reporting to the Managing Director, you will take ownership & responsibility for everything financial.


Specific Requirement:


You will carry out an all-encompassing role which will include:


  • Full responsibility for managing the day-to-day accounts function ensuring Xero is accurate and up to date.
  • Sales and purchase ledger responsibilities.
  • Bank reconciliation.
  • Processing payments on banking software prior to authorisation by others.
  • Dealing with routine accounts queries from clients, staff and suppliers.
  • Assisting the Director with financial administrative duties.
  • Helping to prepare yearly accounts.
  • Handling client invoices by recording and approving or denying the payments.
  • Reconcile any discrepancies or errors identified by conversing with employees and/or clients.
  • Create, send, and follow up on invoices.
  • Managing employee expense claims.
  • Handling accounts payable and receivable.
  • Liaising with external accountants.


Skills & Experience required:


  • Experienced Bookkeeper.
  • Experience from a similar sized SME/OMB/Family-owned business.
  • Proficient knowledge of Xero is essential.
  • Working knowledge of Sage is desirable.
  • Rational thinker with a sound commercial awareness and an understanding for business.
  • Excellent communication skills in writing and verbal communication.
  • Excellent time management / organisational skills.
  • Good team player and independent worker.
  • Demonstrates a high degree of confidentiality.
  • Excellent IT skills, with working knowledge of Outlook and Excel.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
